Burton-upon-Trent Branch Events  2007

25th Anniversary Falklands Parade and Church Service

Saturday 30th June
We will be holding two events; in the daytime we will be having a Market Stall in Burton Market Place to promote the Legion in the Community. This will also be to promote awareness of what the Legion can do for ex-service people and their families and introduce the new welfare package – Poppy Support.

In the evening we will be holding, in conjunction with Burton Lions, a ‘Proms Night Concert’ at Burton Town Hall. Many local artists have pledged their support and we welcome all members, friends and relatives to join us. Doors will be open from 6.30pm and bar facilities will be available. Tickets are priced at £8 and will be available either by post from myself or on the door. Commemorative programmes will be on sale for £1 and there will also be a raffle

Sunday 1st July
Those wishing to march in the Parade are asked to assemble at Burton Town Hall at 2pm in readiness for ‘march off’ at 2.30pm. The Parade, lead by the Rolls-Royce (Derby) Band, will march to St. Modwen’s Parish Church in the Market place for a Service of Commemoration at 3.pm which will be followed by Wreath laying at the War Memorial.

The Parade will then march back to the town Hall where there will be a buffet reception. It is anticipated that a complimentary bus service will be provided by Arriva for those unable to march.

It would be helpful if you could advise of possible numbers wishing to attend, for catering purposes, by Friday 8 June, at the latest.
