The Royal British Legion in North Staffordshire, Caring and campaigning for our ex-Service community

Why Volunteer?

People volunteer to help the Legion for a variety of reasons:

  • to support the Legion's welfare work
  • to repay the debt to our Service men and women
  • personal satisfaction and achievement
  • comradeship

Reasons for Volunteering

'I did last year's Pedal to Paris and seeing French people still grateful for what the Allies had done in 1944 made me think more seriously about what we, today, owe our armed forces not just then, but also now.'

- Pedal to Paris 2002 & 2003 - Helen White

'The great thing about the British Legion is that the help they offer is more than just money. I have a chance to develop a longer term relationship with people who I wouldn't ordinarily meet,'

- Welfare Caseworker Janine Woodward

'There will always be ex-servicemen and women who need our help. By visiting schools and encouraging young people to take up the crusade, we can encourage the younger generations to continue to support the ex-service community and carry on the good work of so many who went before them.'
