Branch Treasurers' Course

 

 Aim:
To train Branch Treasurers in basic book-keeping skills and to
instruct them in the Legion’s financial provisions as laid down in the Royal Charter and Charity Law.

 
 

Target Student:
Branch Treasurers.

 
 

Course Content:
Branch Treasurer’s role and responsibilities.
Basic accounting practices.
Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) - Accounting by Charities.
Financial provisions of the Royal Charter (objects, donations, etc.)
Cash and Banking principles; financial controls.
Cash book procedures (Receipts & Payment accounts).
General Account, Benevolent Account and Restricted Funds.
Bank reconciliation procedures.
Producing ‘State of Account’ reports.
Preparation of branch accounts for audit.
Completing a Branch Account Return.

 

 

 
  Sponsor’s Approval:
The Course is sponsored by the Director Finance. All applications will be screened by him or by the Financial Accountant.
 
     
  Registration:
Successful students will be entered on the National Register of RBL Branch Treasurer’s.

The structure and development of each course is designed to enhance, encourage and support the attendee in his/her role within the Legion. Everyone involved in these courses are volunteers, each with the sole purpose, students and teachers alike, to gain from experience and to benefit the Legion, it's aims and objectives
