Independent Examiner Course

 

 Aim:
To instruct volunteers, who already have experience in basic accounting skills, to conduct an examination of Legion Branch Accounts as laid down in the RBL’s Terms of Reference for Audit or Independent Review.

 
     
 

Target Student:
Legion members who display the potential to become an Independent
Examiner.

 
     
 

Course Content:
Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) - Accounting by Charities.
Charity Commission Guidelines and Directions on Independent Examination.
RBL branch accounting procedures.
Basics of balancing and bank reconciliation.
Audit checks and verification of balances.
Independent Examiner’s responsibilities.
Independent Examiner’s documentation.

 
     
  Sponsor’s Approval:
The Course is sponsored by the Director Finance. All applications will be screened by him or by the Financial Accountant.
 
     
  Registration:
Successful students will be entered on the National Register or RBL
Independent Examiners.

The structure and development of each course is designed to enhance, encourage and support the attendee in his/her role within the Legion. Everyone involved in these courses are volunteers, each with the sole purpose, students and teachers alike, to gain from experience and to benefit the Legion, it's aims and objectives
