Stafford Branch welcomes 248 Ghurkha Signal Squadron
248 Ghurkhas Signal Squadron
arrived in Stafford having completed a 200 Kilometres
sponsored charity run from Colerne in Wiltshire to join the
22 Royal Signals Regiment stationed in Stafford.
The run in aid of the Ghurkha Welfare Trust and Borough
Council Mayor Cllr Mike Shone's charity appeal. Cllr Shone
led the final leg from the Town Square to the MOD Camp on
Beaconside.
The team reported to Lt Col Neil Fraser, the Commanding
Officer 22 Signal Regiment to mark the official arrival of
248 Ghurkha Signal Squadron, joining the Regiment.
The Royal British Legion Midlands Area Public Relations and
Recruitment Officer John Lee, addressed the squadron members
who paraded for the first time yesterday the 2nd of April.
Also welcoming 248 Ghurkha Signal Squadron to Stafford where
the Stafford Royal British Legion Branch; President Bill
Sylvester, Chairman George Wright, Vice Chairman Peter
Hobson, Branch Secretary Derek Bunting, Branch Treasurer Tom
Ecclestone and Women's Section Hon Secretary Liz Cornish.
Several Members applied to join the Legion on the Day and
others took forms to fill in at a later date, grateful
thanks go to the RSM, WO1 Oliver Reid and his staff for
affording Stafford Branch the opportunity to welcome 22
Royal Signals Regiment to the town.
