Bob Rankin our County Web Manager, was singularly honoured with the presentation of the Regional Certificate of Appreciation for his work on the Honour The Covenant Campaign. The presentation was made by Alistair Maxwell, Field Manage (Midlands) Royal British Legion at the annual County Conference held at the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Chamber in Leek on Sunday 13th January 2008.

The Regional Certificate has never been awarded before in the Midlands Region. This means it is a first for the Region and a first for North Staffordshire County.

Alistair Maxwell’s citation read:

“It has been brought to my attention by many people that the North Staffordshire Web Site is an example of an exceptional County Web site. However, the timely introduction of a new opening page to promote the Honour The Covenant campaign shows professionalism that deserves recognition. The skill and commitment that you continue to show in providing the expertise to maintain and continually improve and update this site, and it's associated sites, is outstanding.

Please accept my sincere thanks on behalf of the Royal British Legion in the Midlands for your dedication which has resulted in a web site which is of great benefit to all in your County and an example of what we should be striving to achieve nationally. I have great pleasure in awarding you a Regional Certificate of Appreciation for your work in furthering the cause of the Royal British Legion. It is especially shown in your use of your skills and expertise to provide a web service which is current, informative and interesting to all. The new front page and the content of the site for the Honour The Covenant campaign was seen by many and complimented by all. It exemplifies the use of electronic communication to reach as wide and varied an audience as possible.

In awarding this Certificate we, in the Midlands, are formally acknowledging your dedication and your professionalism which you have used, on behalf of the Royal British Legion, for the benefit of the Midlands Region - its members, staff and clients alike.”

Chris Denham, Assistant to Field Manager (Midlands) also wrote:

"This is the first certificate to be awarded with the Midlands Region.

The decision has been made that these certificates will be awarded only for exceptional contributions that are of particular importance to the Region - your work on the Region's web sites and, in particular, your work using the web site to promote the Honour the Covenant campaign are a superb example of what should be recognised in this way.

Please accept my congratulations on what is a much deserved recognition of the valuable work you continue to do for the Royal British Legion in the Midlands Region."
