Royal British Legion- Calendar of Events

year

The Royal British Legion, as a great supporter of members of the fallen and the British Armed Forces, has a lot of events and activities concerning fund-raising, charity, pure entertainment and commemoration planned this year as well. Take a peek into their calendar of events to see what exciting events await us in 2017 in the UK.

Support the Team Legion in the Virgin Money London Marathon on 23 April 2017. Join the team and proudly wear the Legion brand on your shirt to show your support for their cause. The best thing is that all Legion team runners can join the Legion after party which consists of refreshments and massages for the runners.

Celebrate one of the national days of the United Kingdom by attending the traditional concert at St. George’s Church in London. You will be entertained by the Legion’s Central Band, the church choir and speeches held by celebrities. For 40 GBP you not only secure a ticket, but wine, soft drinks, and snacks are included.

The famous Poppy Walk is one of the most exciting charity manifestations held in Britain, and this year, it will take place on 1 July 2017, which is a 10 km walk or a journey where you can discover the present and the past of your city. Two new locations will be added this year with the goal to raise funds for the Legion.

Pedal to Paris is a cycling ride from London to Paris which takes place from 31 August to 4 September 2017 whereby you can discover the beautiful countryside and scenery all the way from London to Paris. Do not worry about traffic and other details since the cycling roads in France from Calais to Paris will be closed in your honour, which only happens during the Tour de France and this cycling ride. As soon as you enter France, you will be greeted by lovely French locals, and after you cross the finish line, you can look forward to a nicely organized celebration and dinner in one of Paris’ nicest hotels.

At the end of the year, on 13 and 14 December 2017, you can enjoy the unique two-day Legion Christmas celebration at Guildhall, London. You will get again the chance to enjoy the performance of the Legion’s Central Band, the Bach Choir, other artists, and carol singing. The concerts in the spirit of Christmas will also feature readings by celebrity guests.

These are just some out of the Royal British Legion’s 20 events planned for this year. The charity organisation definitely contributes to a versatile climate in the old UK. We hope that you can take a day or two off to at least attend one of the numerous Legion events.
